Introducing the another profile in our series featuring Men of London. Max Townsend is a Product Designer for menswear marketplace Bombinate and a professional model.

What are you working on at the moment?
I am currently the product designer at a new online marketplace for men’s lifestyle, called Bombinate. We focus on curating craftsmanship brands from around the world, who focus on quality above everything else. We’re also really excited to partner with Kirk Originals this spring and introduce the new Made In England range to our customers. I look after product design and user experience so I’m always looking for new ways to service our customers as best we can. I’ve also somehow found myself doing some modelling, which surprises me every morning when I look in the mirror.

Where’s home?
Home is originally the rolling hills of Devon, but I am now based in Putney as London is where all my work is. It’s still great being able to get out of the city and go home to Devon every now and then.

Recommend your favourite London spot?
I’d have to say Broadway Market by London Fields, I only went for the first time the other weekend, but it was enough to fall in love with it and the surrounding area. The street market is always bustling on a Saturday morning with plenty of artisans showcasing their latest produce. There’s a great energy and sense of community.

How do you switch off?
Getting out of London for the weekend as it can be pretty non stop. I’ve had some great weekends exploring places in the UK. I’m off to Scotland over Easter for some haggis and highlands. Also walking around and taking pictures (not very well) helps me switch off, as I’m focused on my surroundings, rather then anything else.

What’s the biggest change you’ve seen in London over the past 10 years?
Having only lived here for a couple of years I wouldn’t know, give me seven more years and I’ll get back to you.

If you had the power to change one thing about London, what would it be?
I would change the amount of knife crime. It has seems to have risen to new heights recently. Selfishly, if housing priced dropped as well that would also be great.

What does the future hold for you?
I think I’m very lucky to work for such a great company in Bombinate and still be able to do bits of modelling. So hopefully both will continue to progress, along with more travelling and more pictures. But who knows, with everything that’s going on in the UK right now anything could happen!
